    SCWO Volunteers’ Tea Talk: Making connections for a cause

      On Saturday, 1 April, SCWO organised the Volunteers’ Tea Talk as our ongoing effort to build our volunteering community. Volunteers had the opportunity to network and learn about SCWO’s work while enjoying a delightful spread of refreshments. Our guest speaker, Ms Priscilla Gan from the National Council of Social Services (NCSS), also shared an inspiring presentation about the impact of volunteering and motivated volunteers to continue their selfless contributions towards building a better society.  The audience consisted of long-time volunteers who have dedicated their time and effort to various SCWO initiatives, as well as new volunteers who were eager to explore opportunities to make a difference in the community.…

    SCWO Volunteer Appreciation Party 2022

    SCWO celebrated the most wonderful time of the year, with the most wonderful people!  After a 2-year hiatus, SCWO held one of its most anticipated events – the SCWO Volunteer Appreciation Christmas Party on Saturday, 17th December. More than 30 volunteers, Board and Committee members, and staff gathered to celebrate the achievements of 2022 and come together for one last time before the year ends.  The party began with a warm welcome from our President, Ms Junie Foo, who thanked the volunteers for their hard work and dedication.     Close to $20,000 raised in the New2U Thrift Shop year-end Bazaar and Sale

    From 9 to 11 December 2022, New2U Thrift Shop hosted its biannual Bazaar. Second-hand goods like bags, clothes and shoes from brands like Coach, Kate Spade, Gap, Mango, Tumi, Massimo Dutti and more were displayed. There were also brand-new and second-hand items from local designers. The three-day event received an overwhelming number of visitors and raised close to $20,000 throughout the event. The first day saw a snaking queue forming an hour before the gates were due to open, even though the weather was not favourable and the skies were grey. The event saw close to 50 volunteers who assisted with organising the items, cleaning, setting up the shop, mending…
