SCWO’s Presidents’ Forum Welcomes the Year of the Dragon
It was a vibrant and memorable gathering on Saturday, 17th February as SCWO members gathered to network with one another and welcome the auspicious Year of the Dragon! Our annual Presidents’ Forum was attended by the presidents and women leaders from various member organisations. Ms Junie Foo, President of SCWO, warmly welcomed everyone and shared about upcoming events. In her opening address, she highlighted the significance of such forums as pivotal platforms for fostering connections and collaborative efforts towards advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. Unveiling the Healing Power of Art: A Tapestry of Women Empowerment
Mama on Palette, SCWO’s member organisation for mother and women artist community development, has successfully conducted an art therapy workshop for Star Shelter beneficiaries in January 2024. “I’ll be with you”, a pioneering initiative developed by women for women, aimed at harnessing the therapeutic power of art to foster self-discovery, enhance self-esteem, and instill confidence among participants. Spearheaded by mama artist Kalarani Paneer Selvam, the workshop has opened a door to self-discovery, creativity, and empowerment for survivors of family violence. Participants were guided through a therapeutic sketching journey, exploring their creativity and expressing emotions.
