She is formerly a tenured professor at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges. Dr. Sciubba is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Council on Foreign Relations and served on PRB’s Board of Trustees from 2019 to early 2024, in roles ranging from the Chair of Governance and Nominating Committee to Vice Chair of the Board. How can we reconcile these often contradictory goals and navigate multiple and conflicting pressures in this time of unprecedented demographic change?

Population was seen as key to a brighter future in Singapore’s early days and women were called upon to have smaller families, become more educated, and work outside the home to grow the economy. Today, governments still hang the nation’s future on increasing women’s participation in the labor force, expecting them to care for rapidly increasing older populations, and have larger families.

Prof Wei-Jun Jean Yeung
President, Population Association of Singapore

Wei-Jun Jean Yeung is Director of Social Sciences at the Singapore Institute of Clinical Science at A*STAR and Professor at the Department of Paediatrics at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore. She was a Provost-Chair Professor in the NUS Department of Sociology in 2008-2023. Professor Yeung is a leading expert in social demography, family studies, population health, and social stratification. She is the inaugural President of the Population Association of Singapore and founding Director of the Centre for Family and Population Research at NUS.  Professor Yeung has received many prestigious awards and led national surveys on family and children’s well-being in countries including the USA, China, and Singapore.  She has published extensively, cited widely in academic publications and high-impact global media, and served as an advisor to many leading universities and international organizations. Professor Yeung’s current research focuses on family demographic issues in Asia including aging, fertility and marriage, migration, and child development.

Ms Sun Xueling
Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development

Ms Sun Xueling was elected a Member of Parliament in September 2015. She currently holds the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

Ms Sun served in the Ministry of Education from 2020 – 2022 and had also served in the Ministries of Home Affairs and National Development from 2018 – 2020.

Ms Sun has been an active advocate for women’s progress and children development.

She led several legislatives changes that protected women’s rights through the Women’s Charter in Singapore and also spearheaded landmark legislation on Family Violence. She has also been active in promoting accessible, affordable and quality childcare in Singapore and is a member of the Inter-agency Taskforce on Youth Mental Well-being.

Before entering politics, Ms Sun spent more than a decade in the private sector in finance and investments. She received her Master of Science in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and also holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Economics from the National University of Singapore.

Mr Sumana Rajarethnam
Director, Economist Intelligence Corporate Network (SEA) The Economist

Sumana Rajarethnam is the South-east Asia director of the Economist Corporate Network based in Singapore. Sumana works closely with network members to help inform their business strategies through political, economic and operational insight and to connect them with their senior leadership peers.

Sumana is a senior policy professional with 20 years of business advisory experience. He has most recently been working in the Chinese technology sector, including stints at Kuaishou Technology and ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. He is the co-founder of

MyBasket.sg, a platform that allows users to calculate their personal inflation.

Before joining The Economist Group, Sumana worked as a journalist and in public relations with a focus on government and institutional clients. He served as executive director of the Asian Dialogue Society, working to develop an alternative ASEAN Charter with leading policymakers, and organised the “Building a Better Asia” series, a programme for young leaders across Asia undertaken with Peking University and the Nippon Foundation.

He was close to quitting the policy world to sell coconut milk, but that plan fell victim to a global pandemic. He’s ridden a bicycle through every state in Malaysia and driven a rickshaw from Tamil Nadu to Meghalaya, but is constantly reminded by weak knees that adventures like that were 20 kilogrammes ago.

Sumana holds a BA in political science from UCLA and a Master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan.

Alicia Yi is the Vice Chair of Korn Ferry’s Global Consumer Market. Based in Singapore she also leads the Board & CEO services, as well as Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Solutions in Asia-Pacific.

With over 30 years of experience, Alicia’s international career spans the US, Europe, and Asia, working with clients in various sectors. She began her career as a compensation specialist at Towers Perrin in Chicago and later served as an HR leader at Swiss Bank Corporation in Zurich.

Alicia is an expert in executive search and talent management consulting, helping companies build diverse and high-performing leadership teams. She is dedicated to fostering inclusive leadership and supporting underrepresented talent through innovative programs.

From 2020 to 2023, Alicia served as a Non-Executive Independent Director of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited. Caecilia is the Co-Founder and CEO of YouTrip, a regional financial technology company dedicated to creating a next generation digital banking experience in Southeast Asia.

Prior to founding YouTrip, Caecilia worked at Citi overseeing growth investments in the technology and consumer sectors. Before that, Caecilia worked at McKinsey advising financial institutions across Asia on product and growth strategies. Her fintech experiences prior to YouTrip include positions at Lufax, China’s leading online wealth management platform, and QF Pay, a mobile payments company backed by Sequoia China.

Caecilia was named to the global list of Top 50 Financial Technology CEOs in 2021. She was recognised as Top 10 Fintech Leaders in 2020 and 2021 by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. She was awarded Tech Leader of the Year by the Singapore Computer Society in 2022, and Her World Young Achiever of the Year in 2023. Caecilia serves on the Board of Directors of SGX-listed iFAST Corporate Ltd and the Board of Governors of Cyber Youth Singapore. She previously chaired the payments subcommittee for the Singapore Fintech Association.

Mr Jason Moo

Mr Jason Moo was appointed CEO of Bank of Singapore in March 2023. He joined Bank of Singapore from Julius Baer, where he was Head Private Banking Southeast Asia and Branch Manager Singapore.

Prior to joining Julius Baer in 2020, Mr Moo worked at Goldman Sachs for more than two decades and has held several senior roles, including CEO of Goldman Sachs Singapore and Head of Southeast Asia and Australia for Private Wealth Management (PWM). Before relocating back to Singapore, he was based in Hong Kong as Head of Market Solutions Group and Head of Alternative Capital Markets Asia Pacific. Prior to that, he worked in the Equities Merchandising Group in New York. He joined Goldman Sachs as a financial analyst in PWM in Singapore upon graduation.

Mr Moo earned a BA in Economics and East Asia Studies, with a focus on Japan, from Brown University, USA. He serves on the Board of Governors of Raffles Institution.

Ms Hazlina Abdul Halim
President, Singapore Muslim Women’s Association (PPIS) CEO, Make-A-Wish Foundation

Hazlina Abdul Halim is President of the Singapore Muslim Women’s Association (PPIS), an organisation dedicated to inspiring women and strengthening families. 

PPIS runs 11 centres for women, families, and children – including Singapore’s first secular halfway house for women, two student care centres, two family service centres, a divorce support specialist agency, a fostering agency, as well as centres for young marriages and stepfamilies. Under her leadership, PPIS launched its first-ever research publication on the Aspirations of Singapore Muslim Women, built Singapore’s first secular all-women Halfway House, launched a post-graduate scholarship for women in partnership with LBKM, and officiated a new women-centric initiative called RED Space.

Hazlina is the Chairperson of the board of Oaks Plus Limited which manages nine early childhood education centers and serves on the boards of MigrantWell, the Singapore Business Federation Foundation, as well as Yayasan MENDAKI and is a member of Community Chest. In 2023, Hazlina received the Community Cares Awards from MSF for her service.

Professionally, Hazlina is Chief Executive Officer of Make-A-Wish Singapore, a children’s charity that grants the wishes of children bravely living with critical illness.

Previously, Hazlina was a Public Affairs Advisor and before that, spent 15 years on the ground, tracking political, social, and community developments closely as a Presenter/Editor with Mediacorp.

She is married to an inspiring male ally.

Independent Director

Philip is an Australian who has lived in the ASEAN region since 1982, and in Singapore since 1991. In 2022 he was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to Australia-Singapore business relations.

He currently sits on the advisory boards of James Cook University Singapore, QED (a Singapore-based think tank), and Australian Alumni Singapore. From 2014 until 2023 he was a member of the Governing Council of the Singapore Institute of Directors and has served on the Councils of the Singapore Business Federation, the Australian Chamber of Commerce Singapore (former president), and the Association of Banks in Singapore.

Philip is an independent director of several (mostly Australia-linked) corporations in the region. Previously he was Asia Head for ANZ Bank, and spent 15 years with Citibank in Australia, USA, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

Ms Corinna Lim
Executive Director, AWARE

Corinna Lim is the Executive Director of AWARE, the Association of Women for Action and Research. Lim joined AWARE as a member and volunteer in 1992 and has been a women’s rights activist for close to 30 years. Since becoming Executive Director in 2010, she has been responsible for a range of initiatives, including the setting up of the Sexual Assault Care Centre, the only specialised service in Singapore that provides support to sexual assault victims. She also led teams at AWARE to successfully advocate for the enactment of the Protection from Harassment Act, the repeal of marital rape immunity, better access to housing for single parents, gender equal workplaces and greater support for low income families and caregivers of the elderly. In recognition of her contributions to civil society and the advancement of women’s rights, Ms Lim received a Fulbright Scholarship (1998 – 1999). In 2021, she was appointed as the 8th S.R. Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore by the Institute of Policy Studies.

Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash
CEO, Agency for Integrated Care

Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash is the Chief Executive Officer for the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC).

He was previously with the Ministry of Health, where he led the Crisis Strategy and Operations Group and the Healthier SG Implementation Office. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dinesh oversaw critical functions, including contact tracing and testing, quarantine and isolation, community treatment facilities and home recovery. He was instrumental in leading Singapore’s COVID-19 vaccination push, which enabled Singapore to achieve one of the highest vaccination and booster rates globally. Dinesh also managed MOH’s operational strategy for the prevention and control of infectious diseases, as well as medical preparedness and response to civil disasters and national emergencies. For his efforts, he was among the 32 Singaporeans who were awarded the Public Service Star (COVID-19) award in 2023 by the President of Singapore.

Prior to joining MOH, Dinesh was with the Singapore Armed Forces, where he held several leadership positions, including key roles in shaping the Ministry of Defence’s communications policy, operations and strategy.

Mr Neil Humphreys
Singapore's best-selling author, radio host and podcaster

Neil Humphreys arrived in Singapore in 1996 with a suitcase, no job and very little money to stay with a Singaporean friend from university. Within five years, he was a best-selling author. He has since written 30 books.

Among them, his works on Singapore – from Notes from an Even Smaller Island to Saving a Sexier Island: Notes from an Old Singapore – are some of the most popular titles in the last 20 years. His book Be My Baby chronicled his journey to parenthood and was his first international best-seller. 

He has also written crime fiction (Inspector Low series), YA fiction (PRINCESS INCOGNITO series, Awful Agatha series) and created an award-winning series of illustrated children’s books (Abbie Rose and the Magic Suitcase) about a young girl on a mission to save endangered animals and protect their fragile homes. which has been endorsed by both the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Jane Goodall. Both Inspector Low and Abbie Rose and the Magic Suitcase are currently being adapted into TV series.

A popular columnist,  Humphreys also writes extensively for newspapers, magazines and television shows in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and the UK. He co-hosts radio shows for MONEY FM.

Mr Tim Lee
CEO, Caregivers Alliance Limited

Tim Lee was in the civil service for more than 24 years and subsequently transited into the private sector before joining Caregivers Alliance Ltd (CAL) as CEO in 2018.

CAL is dedicated to meeting the needs of caregivers supporting loved ones with mental health issues. These “hidden heroes” frequently grapple with stigma associated with mental illnesses. Many find it challenging to come forward and seek help, resulting in stress, fatigue, and burnout. There are also many who struggle with financial difficulties in looking after their loved ones, sometimes made worst due to them leaving their jobs to care for their loved ones full-time.

Tim & his colleagues have been creating new strategies and approaches to meet caregiver needs and address service gaps to enable them to achieve a higher level of mental well-being and resilience and to find support from others who are just like them.

Many of CAL’s full-time staff were graduates from CAL’s Caregivers-to-Caregivers programmes and were previously active volunteers with CAL. Empowered by what they have learned, CAL’s volunteers are training and supporting other caregivers as mental health champions in various communities, including corporations, faith-based groups, community organisations, associations, and educational institutions.

Lin Suling is a journalist, author and former public servant. She is senior columnist at the Straits Times and affiliate faculty at the Singapore Management University today. Prior to this, she was the founding editor of CNA’s Commentary and Podcast sections. A Defence Merit Scholarship recipient, she had spent more than a decade in public service at the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Finance, the Pioneer Generation Office and NTUC. She was also a member of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations BoardAgender Mentorship Programme for Aspiring Women Directors, a committee member of the Interagency Task Force for Mental Health and most recently, author of a chapter on Women in Leadership: Business, Community and Politics in the book Why Not: Thinking about Singapore’s Tomorrow, published in June 2024.

Dr Kanwaljit Soin
Former Nominated Member of Parliament

Kanwaljit Soin is an Orthopaedic and Hand Surgeon who retired in 2022 after 56 years in medical practice. She was Singapore’s first female Nominated Member of Parliament (1992–1996) and was inducted to the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame in 2014. A founding member of the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE) in 1985; she was its president from 1991 to 1993. Dr Soin was the founding chair of the Singapore chapter of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the founding president of Women’s Initiative for Ageing Successfully (WINGS). She has received the Singapore Medical Association Merit Award, the International Women’s Forum ‘Women Who Make a Difference Award’, the UNIFEM Lifetime Achievement Award, and Singapore’s Woman of the Year award.

Dr Soin is the author of Silver Shades of Grey: Memos for Successful Ageing in the 21st Century. Together with Margaret Thomas, she has edited 2 books—Our Lives to Live: Putting a Woman’s Face to Change in Singapore and Why Not? Thinking about Singapore’s Tomorrow.

Dr Mary Ann Tsao
Chairperson and Founding Director, Tsao Foundation

Dr.Mary Ann Tsao is the Chairwoman and Founding Director of the Tsao Foundation, a Singapore- based, but regionally oriented non-profit operational foundation dedicated to issues of population ageing, healthy longevity and the well-being of older people at policy and practice levels by catalyzing constructive change. A leader in community-based eldercare, Mary Ann is a long-standing advocate for older people, especially older women. Mary Ann is also the current Chairwoman of the Tsao Family Office, which aspires to deploy all its assets for impact through how they invest as well as how they do philanthropy. She is currently also the Vice Chair for the newly established Tsao family foundation. Dr Tsao also serves on numerous boards and committees, and currently serves on the Board Director of Family Business Network (FBN) International, Lausanne, as well as its Asia chapter. For her work on ageing, Mary Ann received several National Day Awards from the Government of Singapore and was named by WHO in 2022 as one of the first 50 healthy ageing pioneers – global leaders recognized for transforming the world to be a better place to grow older. A US-trained paediatrician with a public health background, she has extensive experience working with disadvantaged communities.

President, Society for Women’s Initiatives for Ageing Successfully (WINGS)

President of Society for Women’s Initiatives for Ageing Successfully (WINGS) Bay Teck Cheng is a proponent of women’s ageing agenda in Singapore. Founded in 2007, WINGS has been developing holistic programmes to empower women to age well in areas of physical, mental, financial well-being and social connectedness. She has also spearheaded initiatives to help older women embrace digitalisation as technology becomes an increasingly ubiquitous part of daily lives, impacting the way we work, communicate, and form relationships.

She also serves on the Board of Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) and co-chairs SCWO’s Taskforce for Ageing which aims to bring to light the gender related phenomenon of ageing. To this end, SCWO published a research report “Tomorrow’s New Old: Singapore’s Future Cohort of Ageing” to better understand the needs and expectations of a new generation of seniors and submitted a report on “Older Women’s Responses to the White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development” with our partners in Singapore Alliance for Women in Ageing. She believes in providing voices for older women to inform policy options and community actions.

Director, Regional Health System Operation and Admin (SE), SingHealth Services & Director, Community Integration, Singapore General Hospital

Peter joined SingHealth Services as Director, Regional Health System Operation on 1 November 2023 and took on the concurrent appointment as Director, Community Integration, Division of Population Health & Integrated Care in Singapore General Hospital on 1 May 2024. He oversees the operationalisation of the SingHealth Healthier SG teams which comprise Community Nurses and Well Being Coordinator across seven Communities of Care in the SouthEast region to support the national Healthier SG movement. At SGH, he is responsible for developing, engaging, building and strengthening relationships and partnership with social agencies, community partners and grassroots leaders to better integrate health-social service deliveries not only for the population of 80,000 seniors but also the population of 224,000 residents in SouthEast region as its regional health manager to promote preventive care and help the population to live well and age well.

Prior to his secondment from MOH to SingHealth, he was the Executive Secretary at the Singapore Dental Council and Singapore Medical Council which collectively regulate more than 18,000 registered dental and medical professionals. A veteran civil servant, he had held various appointments in the Ministry of Health.

He was accorded three National Day and Public Service Awards for his exemplary contributions in 2003, 2010 and 2018. He served as a Deputy Registrar of Marriages with the Registry of Marriages from 2008-2014. Peter is still actively involved in community service and Chairs the School Advisory Committee in a primary school. He is also a volunteer Career Advisor with Workforce SG since July 2022.

As Singapore continues to age, it becomes increasingly imperative to examine and adapt our societal structures to better serve the needs of our senior citizens. Apart from providing economic, emotional and psychological support to this growing demographic, how can we also tap on seniors as an invaluable resource that can enrich and expand our development as a society?

Ms Junie Foo
Immediate Past President, SCWO

Junie Foo successfully pivoted from being the only Singaporean female helming corporate banking in Asia Oceania in a Japanese financial institution to overseeing a large charitable organisation serving close to 10,000 beneficiaries as CEO. She has dedicated more than 20 years in helping women from all walks of life through her volunteer work at the Financial Women’s Association, International Women’s Forum and SCWO.

Co- founder and former Chairperson of BoardAgender, she is currently Immediate Past President of SCWO and continues to plod on to change mindsets on women. She is particularly concerned with the financial adequacy of women who have spent much time caring for their spouses or children and do not have enough in their old age. She feels that targeted steps must be taken to enable women to remain in or re-join the workforce with better job opportunities that offer career advancement of older women.

Junie is Singapore’s Representative for Women’s Rights on the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC).
