About Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame (SWHF)

The Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame was launched in March 2014 to recognise the achievements and contributions of Singapore’s most outstanding women in all fields of endeavour.

These are the women who have made, or are making, an impact on our nation: The pioneers and pathfinders, boundary breakers and record holders, risk-takers and change makers, role models and standard setters.

They dared to dream and turned their dreams into a new reality for the women of their time and the generations to come.  They are, today, the women who shape our society and inspire us.

The honourees in the Hall exemplify these key qualities:

Altruism Integrity
Compassion Leadership
Courage Passion
Creativity Tenacity
Enterprise Vision
Innovation Wisdom

The Selection Process

SCWO has built up a database of women of distinction, we continue to welcome names to be added to the database. Make a nomination here

The names are shortlisted and reviewed by the Resource Panel and Selection Panel, making a decision on who and how many to induct each year.

The Induction Ceremony takes place annually and is usually held in March, serving as the hallmark of SCWO’s International Women’s Day celebrations each year.

The Criteria for Induction

At the time of induction, honourees must be a citizen or resident of Singapore, or a woman who was born in Singapore, and meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • A pioneer in her field
  • Set new standards for achievement
  • Made significant and enduring contributions to her field and to society
  • Elevated the status of women
  • Helped to open new frontiers for women and for society
  • An inspiration to others

The Induction Ceremony

Each year, honourees are presented with a trophy called The Flame.

The Flame represents the vitality of the women in the Hall of Fame, and the torch of inspiration that is passed from one generation to another. It is made of crystal glaze.
