Together (2015)

Together
Each strand may be thin and fragile, but woven together, they gain strength. But more: when woven by many hands, and decorated with messages of hope and empathy expressed by many visitors, the fabric carries a story of shared hopes.
This colourful fabric was woven by women inmates of Singapore Prison in 2015, and displayed at a show called ‘New Horizon’, organised by Yellow Ribbon, Singapore Art Museum and Prisons. The women built a loom fashioned from wooden planks. Each added thread, that they wove together. Visitors to the show then wrote messages of support onto yellow strips that were attached to the fabric.
Women working together, and supporting those who have to strive the most, can create hope, peace and better lives for all.
