About Single Mothers Programme

Being a single mother can be challenging, especially when navigating a divorce, separation, or break-up. Building a supportive community network is vital, as access to emotional and practical support can significantly improve well-being and resilience. Research shows that many single mothers lack reliable friends for emotional, childcare, or financial support, and even new friendships can be difficult to deepen due to trust issues, social stigma, or fear of being a burden.

At SCWO, we have observed this firsthand. Many single mothers do not have a strong support system to turn to during these transitions, which can leave them feeling isolated and vulnerable. Our Single Mothers Programme aims to address this gap by fostering a sense of community, offering practical guidance, emotional support, and opportunities to build lasting connections. Through group sessions, post-group activities, and training opportunities, participants can gain confidence, strengthen resilience, and develop networks that empower them to move forward with hope and purpose.

The Support We Foster

Being a single mother comes with unique challenges, and it can feel overwhelming to face them alone. Our support group provides a safe and understanding space where single mothers can come together, share their experiences, and support one another through difficult times.

The programme offers opportunities for open discussions, peer sharing, and bonding, helping participants regain confidence and self-esteem. Through these sessions, single mothers can:

  • Learn from others’ lived experiences and gain fresh perspectives
  • Realize they are not alone in their struggles
  • Manage stress and anxiety effectively
  • Heal from prolonged frustration, anger, and grief
  • Rebuild a sense of identity after separation or divorce
  • Identify personal strengths and develop strategies to overcome challenges

Our goal is to create a community that empowers single mothers to move forward with resilience and hope for a better future.

Who is this for?

Single mothers aged 21–55 who are going through a difficult divorce, separation, or break-up.

When to Sign Up

The Single Mothers Support Group runs three times a year, with each programme lasting four months. Across eight sessions, participants come together for guided discussions, practical workshops, and peer support. This structure allows time to build trust, share experiences, and gain tools that strengthen both personal growth and family life.

Group Activities

Support doesn’t end after the first eight sessions. Beyond the initial Single Mothers Support Group, participants are invited to continue their journey through monthly Post-Group Activities. These sessions provide a space to stay connected, build friendships, and keep supporting one another long after the formal programme ends.

Activities are interactive and shaped around participants’ interests, with mothers playing an active role in planning them. This not only fosters confidence and ownership but also builds lasting empowerment. For those who want to give back, there are opportunities to step forward as facilitators of future support groups, creating a meaningful cycle where lived experience becomes encouragement and guidance for others.
