    Pre-Budget Dialogue 2024 with Minister Indranee Rajah

    SCWO had the pleasure of hosting our member organisations at its annual Pre-Budget Dialogue on 24 January 2024, with Guest-of-Honour Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development.  SCWO President Ms Junie Foo welcomed participants with topics of discussion they could expect during the dialogue, which includes a focus on select chapters of the recently released ForwardSG report such as Respecting & Rewarding Every Job, Supporting Families through Every Stage, Enabling Seniors to Age Well, and Empowering Those in Need.     A Dialogue on Workplace Fairness

    SCWO had the pleasure of hosting Minister of State for Manpower, Ms Gan Siow Huang, in an intimate dialogue on workplace fairness with our esteemed members and allies at the National Design Centre on October 6, 2023. We discussed the upcoming Workplace Fairness Legislation, which sets out to provide women with a stronger legal recourse to challenge discriminatory actions at the workplace. Without the fear of repercussions and with the assurance of fair outcomes, victims of discrimination will be empowered to step forward, raise their grievances and seek help, and women will be more protected at every stage of employment.     Older Women’s Responses to the White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development: A Report by Singapore Alliance for Women in Ageing

    Being stereotyped as “slow” and “less productive” at the workplace. Facing financial strain due to rising caregiving and healthcare costs. Experiencing isolation and loneliness as a result of living alone. These were some of the concerns raised by older women in a series of focus group discussions conducted by the Singapore Alliance for Women in Ageing (SAWA) in 2022 and 2023.
