Project Awesome's From Stories to Art: Portrait of My Role Model

What does a mountain climber, a fighter pilot, a social work pioneer and an education trailblazer have in common?

 

They’re real Singaporean women. And their stories are nothing short of awesome.

 

From Stories to Art: Portrait of My Role Model is a 1.5-hour storytelling and craft workshop for children aged 6 to 12 where big stories spark even bigger imagination. Through selected stories from Awesome Women of Singapore, children will discover women who dared to try, lead, build, and break new ground.

 

But this isn’t just about listening.

 

It’s about asking: What makes someone a role model?
Is it courage? Kindness? Determination? The strength to keep going?

 

Through guided reflection and conversation, young participants will explore who inspires them and why. The session ends with a hands-on mixed media craft activity, where each child creates a portrait of the person they look up to most, capturing the qualities that matter to them. That role model could be a parent, a teacher, a community hero  or even a fictional character.
