    SCWO Has Inducted 7 Amazing Women into the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame

    The 7th annual Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was this year held at the Istana on 8 March in commemoration of International Women’s Day. The Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame inducted seven outstanding women from five different fields into its ranks. The honourees for 2021 are: Ida Mabel Murray Simmons, a pioneering public health nurse who transformed infant and maternal health care in rural Singapore between 1927 and 1948. Mae Noeline Oehlers, an outstanding sportswoman and educator who was a star hockey player in the 1930s and later the first Singaporean Principal of Raffles Girls’ School.     Presidents’ Forum 2021

    The Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations held their biannual President’s Forum on the 27th of February 2021. The event was held virtually via Zoom due to current COVID-19 restrictions and we had 29 member organisations present with a total of over 60 people in attendance. The session was started by SCWO President Ms Junie Foo who welcomed everyone and shared the SCWO’s plans for the year 2021. Following that, we also had 9 member organisations share their own plans for the year 2021.     SCWO Holds Third Session of Conversations on Women’s Development

    The third and final session of the SCWO-led Conversations on Women’s Development were held on the 16th of January 2021. In attendance were both Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Social and Family Development, Ms Sun Xueling as well as Minister for Law and Minister for Home Affairs Mr K Shanmugam. This session focused on the issues at Home and in the Workplace and opened with a video address from Minister Shanmugam. This particular session saw the involvement of more men as compared to the previous two at 39% male participation, something we were glad to see.
