AWESOME Art Competition 2023: SCWO’s first art competition is now open for submissions!

The AWESOME Art Competition is SCWO’s first art competition organised for students and young people. As part of the efforts of our school outreach arm, Project Awesome, the art competition encourages young audiences to learn about the inspiring stories in the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame (SWHF) and creates opportunities for them to think about and express their own hopes, dreams, and ambitions.

SCWO’s President, Ms Junie Foo, making her speech at SCWO’s Gala Dinner on 9th October 2023.

The launch of the AWESOME Art Competition was announced during the SCWO’s Gala Dinner on Monday, 9th October. Whether it is through the SWHF’s website or the Awesome Women Of Singapore book, young participants can access these stories of awe-inspiring women to learn about their journeys and struggles, how they overcame them, and what it took to live an inspiring life like theirs.

Opened to primary and secondary school levels, the art competition invites submissions of 2-dimensional artworks that can be created with traditional and digital mediums alike. Mixed media outcomes that combine the creative use of these mediums are accepted too. Through these submissions, Project Awesome hopes to have a glance at what our young people dream of and aspire to be. The attractive prizes and appreciation tokens serve not only as deserving rewards for creativity and originality in artmaking and storytelling, but also as forms of encouragement to those who turn to the arts as their strength, passion, and daily form of expression. We wish to thank our sponsor, The Hour Glass, for supporting this.

The AWESOME Art Competition call for submissions closes on 8th December 2023, 23.59 pm. Winners will be announced on 31st January 2024.

Interested applicants can submit their entries for the competition here.
