Star Shelter’s Chinese New Year Lo Hei and Karaoke Night

The Star Shelter residents celebrated the Lunar New Year with fun and laughter as they sing along to songs during the Chinese New Year Lo Hei and Karaoke Night on 23 February 2018.

The celebration started with a Chinese New Year themed pop trivia quiz which the residents excitedly participated in. The winners of the quiz were given a sweet treat for every correct answer. The festivity continued as everyone grabbed a pair of chopsticks to participate in the prosperity toss or Lo Hei. Everyone excitedly shouted “Huat Ah!” and many more auspicious phrases to wish for an abundance of luck and wealth in the New Year. After which, the residents enjoyed delectable catered food including dishes like Prawn with Sze Chuan Sauce and Honey Lemon Fish. The residents gratefully received Ang Bao filled with lucky money from the Star Shelter Management Committee and kind-hearted donors.

The event was capped off with karaoke. It was indeed a night filled with laughter, fun, and wonderful memories as the residents danced and sang their hearts out. Star Shelter’s House Supervisor, Liezl Albar, also dedicated a heartfelt song number to one of the residents who will be discharged from the shelter.
