Our annual IT Hub Graduation Tea took place on Saturday, 11 January 2020 and celebrated the achievements of our students who have successfully completed IT Hub courses for the year.
The event kicked off with a welcome address from Miu Ean who shared some of IT Hub’s highlights in 2019 – our partnership with the National Silver Academy to bring even more affordable classes to the community, and our collaboration with Accenture Tech X to provide up-to-date smartphone workshops for our Computer Club Members. She also congratulated the students for their achievements, and thanked our dedicated volunteers who continue to conduct interesting classes for the community.
Miu Ean and Sara Mei offered their heartiest congratulations, and handed out almost 60 certificates to 25 students that afternoon, many of whom brought home multiple certificates. The IT Hub family is so proud of all of our graduates!
Melissa Tan, our well-liked and dedicated volunteer, gave a presentation on her students’ works from her classes Video Creation with Mobile Phones, and Creating Digital Content on the Go. The works of students from her classes, as well as Website Design Basic and IT Basic Module were on display at the back of the room. We are pleased to see that these presentations have inspired and encouraged students to explore the different IT classes that we offer.
The afternoon ended off with a lovely high tea buffet that gave volunteers and students the chance to mingle over food.
SCWO is proud to have this community dedicated to providing accessible IT education to seniors in their silver years – promoting the vision of active aging and lifelong learning.
