Your gift helps us to improve the lives of women and their families.  There are three funds that you can donate to:

(1) The Service Fundicon_donation

The Service fund enables us to extend the aid currently rendered by the Star Shelter to abused women and their families, by continuing counselling and financial assistance needed during and after their time under the Shelter’s Roof.  It provides us with the means for research and promotion of better Enforcement of Maintenance Orders granted to women and children, and our on-going work on CEDAW issues, Financial Literacy and IT proficiency.

Women in Need – Assistance Scheme

 

Maintenance Support Central - A new initiative to establish a Drop-in Centre to assist claimants in enforcement of maintenance orders with video-link filing and where women in need can come to gather information on where they can get help from different agencies or with counselling sessions for assistance with problems. More

Financial Assistance – for needy cases – Food vouchers to single mothers, lower income, and disadvantaged women.

 

Women’s Rights – Research, Publications and Public Forums

 

Research, study and promote measures for women and family financial and social security.

Continuing our work for better enforcement of maintenance orders

Review of rights and remedies under the current Women’s Charter and revision of clauses that would improve necessary areas.

Review of CEDAW (Commission for Ending Discrimination Against Women)

 

Wall of Fame

 

Research the roles women played in building Singapore.
Identify women leaders in Singapore who has made a difference to the lives of others.
To ensure that these women are given the due recognition and that their contributions are not forgotten.
To inspire and encourage women to play an active role in society.
To induct a new entrant every two years.

Women’s Progress & Development


Education of women through activities such as talks, symposia and outreach of on-line and other means of resources available to assist women in need.  The workshops will be held to help, educate, inspire and prevent women, primarily but not exclusively, single mothers, retrenched women, housewives, lower-income women and young women; cope with financial stress, work-life balance, gaining employment, being financially secure, and other courses that will benefit their financial, emotional and physical well-being. 

 

Skills Upgrading

Developing of existing IT Hub facility to accommodate more housewives and unemployed women at a cheaper cost than commercial centres by training a volunteer force of trainers.
Training for retrenched women to upgrade their IT Skills
Skills upgrading for those with employment
Getting housewives and the elderly connected to the IT world.

(2) The Star Shelter Fund

    The Star Shelter provides a safe temporary refuge for women and their children who are victims of family violence, regardless of race, language or religion.  The operational expenditure is approximately $190,000 per year.  More about Star Shelter 

     

    (3)  SCWO Fund

      SCWO is a non-profit voluntary welfare organisation, and the operational expenditure is approximately $350,000 per year.  This includes maintaining the building, wages and other operational costs.

      Service Fund - Founders Circle

      logo_foundersThe Founders Circle is a group of distinguished donors who have made a legacy of $25,000 or more to the SCWO Service Fund. All donations to the Fund will qualify for 2.5.times tax exemption as the SCWO Service Fund is an Institution of Public Character. 

       

       

      How you will be acknowledged for your generous support?

       

      1. The donor’s name will be displayed on the Founder’s Circle Plaque located prominently at the entrance to the SCWO Centre.

      2. The Founders Circle will be featured in all SCWO print material, websites and visual advertising for the next 5 years.

      3. You will be recognized in our Annual Reports which outlines SCWO’s progress, activities and the year in review.

      4. You will be on our invitation list for all events.
