SCWO Celebrates its 40th Anniversary

This celebration was initially scheduled to be held in March 2020 and was postponed twice due to the Covid Situation.

SCWO was finally able to celebrate its 40th Anniversary on Saturday, 27 March 2021 with a hybrid (virtual-physical) event. We were very happy that we were able to celebrate this very special day with Members, Friends and Supporters who joined us virtually.

The physical event was a private dinner that took place at Shang Palace Restaurant at the Shangrila Hotel.  Present were Past Presidents of SCWO and the SCWO Board.  We were also honoured to have our special guests, Minister for Manpower Mrs Josephine Teo and Minister of State Ms Sun Xueling celebrate this special day with us.

We are grateful that SCWO’s Patron, President Halimah Yacob and Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Masagos Zulkifli very kindly recorded Congratulatory messages that we shared with everyone attending.

Performances by Rahimah Rahim and Cheryl Chitty Tan added pizzazz to the evening.

What made this celebration extra special, was that the residents of the Four Crisis Shelters: Anglican Care Centre, Casa Raudha Women’s Home, Good Shepherd Centre and SCWO’s Star Shelter were able to enjoy the special dinner and join in our celebration virtually. This was made possible by guests who joined us virtually, but had decided to donate their dinners to the Crisis Shelters.
