Lives of Women Exhibition

What was life like for women in pre-independence Singapore?  What roles did women play in a society where, until well into the 20th century, there were far more males than females? Who were the women who first broke through the gender barriers in the professions? What brought about the new laws that were introduced soon after Independence and which significantly affected the lives of women?

These are some of the questions explored in the Lives of Women exhibition by the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame.

Walk-in for some fun-tastic art workshops meant for the whole family. Get crafty with these therapeutic crafts by The Red Pencil and Mama on Palette.

Coupon Cards are required to participate in the Art Workshops.

Heritage Walk: Walking in the Footsteps of Our Foremothers

 

 

 

 

 

 

Immerse yourself in Singapore’s heritage and the impact that women made on our nation’s development. The enriching walk around the city centre takes you by the historic buildings and areas. Learn from our expert guide as we discover: 

• The rich stories of the landmarks and key locations along the route; 
• How some of the women in the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame lent a hand in the shaping of Singapore’s history

Walking in the Footsteps of our Foremothers takes you around the Bras Basah Bugis Precinct on foot. The walk is approximately 1.5 hours. 

Things to note: 

• Please wear comfortable walking shoes for the walk.
• The walk will proceed if there is light rain. 
• In the event of cancellation due to heavy rain or unforeseen circumstances, participants will be offered to join a future scheduled walk. We will contact all participants with more details on the rearrangement.
• No refunds will be issued once payment has been made. We thank you for your understanding.
• The walks will be held once a month from September to December 2023. 
• The cost of the walk is $35/pax.

Coupon cards entitle you to participate in the Carnival Games and workshops! Purchase the coupon cards at our doors or online for convenience.

1. Each coupon card includes popcorn for redemption. While stocks last. 
2. Each coupon card entitles you to participate in activities within the SCWO Carnival, such as the Art Workshops, Bouncy House and Carnival Games. 
3. Entrance to Bouncy House is only for children 12 years old and below. 
4. Present your coupon card to the volunteer to redeem your activity.  
5. Coupon card activities are not redeemable at the Night Bazaar. 

 

Things to note:

Parking will not be available within the SCWO Centre.
