Cat D, Third Place: “Seeds of Compassion” by Wee Gim Shuen

My artwork is about Ivy Ng, a woman that greatly impacted the healthcare system through her compassion and empathy. She allows workers to have flexi-work arrangements that enhance work life balance, and improve the healthcare facilities in SingHealth.

This work features her gazing at a flower that is glowing brightly. This flower is Portulaca Grandiflora, symbolising resilience in harsh environments. This flower is like her compassion; it persists on despite the challenges she faces. As the flower disperses its seeds, it represents the continuation of the cycle of compassion she has nurtured and sowed in others.
