Noorfarahin is the Co-chairperson of the NTUC Women’s Committee and has 26 years of experience as a unionist. She first started as an executive with the Singapore Tourism Board in 1993 at 23 and felt the calling to join the Amalgamated Union of Public Employees (AUPE). She was elected to the Executive Council as a Council Member in 2005 and is currently the Vice President of AUPE.
Under her leadership, the union organises various activities for members, including Dinner & Dances, public speaking courses, and talks by inspirational speakers. In addition, as the Chairperson of the AUPE Women’s Committee, she led the union in collaboration with NTUC Women’s Committee to organise engagement activities for single mothers and their children under the We Care For U Project.
Since 2019, she has been an active mentor to younger women leaders through the NTUC Union Leadership Programme for Women and women in the community as a mentor under the Women Supporting Women programme. Being very creative, she choreographed the International Women’s Day 2019 “Let’s March Leaders’ Assembly” skit performance graced by President Halimah Yacob.
Noorfarahin is vocal and passionate about promoting flexible and fair workplaces with a strong passion for advocating for working women. She strongly supported the initiatives held in Celebration of SG Women in 2021, including the PAP Women’s Wing joint consultation paper “Taking Action for Women” and the #ActionForHer and #SolidarityForHer pledge movement.
On the International front, Noorfarahin currently represents NTUC as a titular member and was elected 2nd Vice Chair for the International Trade Union Confederation – Asia Pacific (ITUC=AP) Women’s Committee (2019 – 2023).
