Georgette Tan is President, United Women Singapore, an NGO advocating gender equality, women’s empowerment and focused on building the pipeline of future female leaders. Prior to this role, she was Senior Vice President Communications heading up Communications and CSR at MasterCard Asia Pacific. Her career includes heading communications roles in both private and public sectors in Singapore and Hong Kong including CNBC Asia, Dow Jones Asia, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Singapore Tourism Board and Sentosa Development Corporation.

She currently sits on the board of BoardAgender, an initiative of the Singapore Council of Women Organisations, focused on increasing the number of women on boards, and is on the Taskforce on Family Violence jointly led by the Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Georgette also advises female entrepreneurs of start-up ventures and social enterprises in the region.

Georgette was previously Senior Vice President, Communications at Mastercard, responsible for external and internal communications and Corporate Social Responsibility throughout the Asia Pacific region. She established Mastercard as a though leader through the development and promotion of Mastercard’s suite of research properties, which served as a benchmark for a myriad of economic, industry and consumer trends, including indexes which specifically measure women’s socio-economic advancement – the Mastercard Index of Women’s Advancement and the Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs. She also spearheaded Mastercard’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts which focused on education and development programs to help empower women and children across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining Mastercard, Georgette was Vice President of Communications at CNBC Asia and Dow Jones Asia, and also held Senior Communications roles at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board.

She was adjunct faculty lecturing Organisational Communications at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at the Singapore Management University.

Georgette is a graduate of the National University of Singapore. She is married to William Adamopoulos and they have 2 daughters, Lianne and Zoe Anne.
