Handing over ceremony

Ms Malathi Das, is the very first Singaporean and also the first woman to take on the presidential role at the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA). During the closing ceremony of the 24th LAWASIA Conference, outgoing president Mr Lester Huang, from Law Society of Hong Kong, handed the ceremonial flag to Ms Das as a badge of office.

A partner at a local boutique law firm, Joyce A Tan and Partners, Ms Das practises commercial law and possesses a keen interest in family law. Her position as vice president of Law Society Singapore and contributions to several Law Society committees, as well as other initiatives throughout the years have earned her strong ties with legal professional bodies.

Ms Das strongly believes in promoting leadership roles amongst women, especially in the Asia Pacific region, which is why being the first woman president of LAWASIA is of such great significance to her.
