    Project Awesome: Dare to Dream

      Project Awesome: Dare to Dream is an initiative by the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) that aims to inspire young Singaporeans, and especially girls, to dream big, aim high, and live to their fullest potential. It aims to do this by bringing to our schoolchildren the amazing stories of the Awesome Women of Singapore, that is, the honourees in the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame. Women have been there alongside men as Singapore developed over the last 200 years, but there is little in the history books about the contributions and achievements of women.     Internship Reflection – Eleanor Que

    Having attended a girls’ school for 10 years, I never doubted that women were and are as capable as men. However, the sociology classes I took in university opened my eyes to the reality of glass ceilings, gendered division of labour and under-representation of women in various fields, all which still prevail in Singapore. This pushed me to pursue my interest in women’s causes; I decided to apply for an internship at SCWO after hearing about it through the New2U Thrift Shop in 2018.     Launch of The Lives of Women Exhibition: How have women progressed in Singapore since independence?

    In partnership with the National Museum of Singapore, the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame (SWHF) launched the second of a 3-part exhibition series titled “The Lives of Women” on 2nd November 2019. This exhibition picked up from where the previous one had left off, by telling the stories of women’s lives in post-Independence Singapore (1965 to present day). In addition to tracing how social perceptions of women have changed over the years, the exhibition commemorates women, their impactful contributions to Singapore and unprecedented achievements in various spheres of society.
