Ms Lynn Er
Organisation: Young Women’s Leadership Connection
Since 2014, Lynn has actively contributed to the Young Women’s Leadership Connection (YWLC) community in various capacities. Starting out in the Leadership Development sub-committee, she spearheaded YWLC’s first entrepreneur-focused panel and intimate chat session.
Lynn was subsequently elected and led the Business Development portfolio in the 4th Executive Committee. She was pivotal in building out our external partnership portfolio both in terms of process workflow and relationship building, collaborating with more than 80 partners including Bloomberg, CRIB, DBS, McKinsey and the National Gallery, during her term. Beyond her portfolio, Lynn also established YWLC’s inaugural pay-it-forward Mentorship programme with ITE College Central, bringing together 15 pairs of mentors and mentees.
Over time, Lynn grew further into the community, taking on the role of the Chairperson in the 5th Executive Committee. Aside from the executive committee’s personal development and leadership succession planning, Lynn had a strong focus on membership engagement (given the expanding membership base and changing priorities of the earlier vintage members) and integration of the community engagement portfolio.
Under her leadership, the YWLC community grew from strength to strength – the number of mentors, mentees and members doubled and experienced hyper growth in our scale of events (from 30s to 100s) especially for our exclusive proprietary content workshops with partners such as McKinsey, Bain & Co, Mercer, and UBS just to name a few.
The integration of the Community Engagement portfolio was a great success – in addition to existing programmes such as 100 wishes with Star Shelter, YWLC launched 3 new initiatives, highlighting our strengths in pay-it-forward Mentorship programmes, empowering young female leaders (even before they are eligible to join YWLC) and ability to innovate and problem-solve through our inaugural Hackathon, doubling down on content quality and marketing efforts (new website and social media channels). YWLC featured in multiple channels (CNA, ST, LHZB, magazines, social media, etc) and received multiple reverse enquires for partnership. Lynn currently serves as the advisor to the 6th Executive Committee.
Lynn is a Director in Varde Partners, focused on stressed and distressed credit investments in the region. Prior to this, she was in the investment banking and special situations lending team at Credit Suisse. She graduated with BSc Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and MSc Financial Economics from Said Business School, University of Oxford.
Lynn also extended her passion for gender balance in both firms’ diversity initiatives, including working directly with the co-founder of her fund on a research project on underfunded female investors.
