SCWO took part in the ACWC dialogue with forty other national and regional civil society organisations in the ASEAN region over a two-day period in Manila, Philippines to exchange views on issues of violence against women and children, and work towards its elimination.
This consultative dialogue was officiated by Her Excellency Corazon Juliano-Soliman, Secretary of Department of Social Welfare and Development of the Philippines, and supported by UN Women and UNICEF.
SCWO was represented by our President Mrs Laura Hwang, and like other civil society groups, contributed our views and made recommendations to the ACWC in a concerted effort in finalising its 5-year Work Plan to observe the mandate and responsibilities of its terms.
Other notable participants included Ms Marta Santos Pais, Special Rep to UN Secretary General on Violence against Children (SRSG-VAC), Ms Indira Jaising, UN CEDAW Committee expert, Dr Lara Fergus, Expert Advisor on Service Delivery for Ending Violence against Women section of UN Women, and other international experts. |
