CPR + Automated External Defilibrator (AED) Demonstration

CPR+AED are extremely important in reducing the number of sudden cardiac deaths.  If it is administered in the few critical minutes just after sudden cardiac arrest, it will skew the Chain of Survival equation towards higher chances of survival.  For every minute of delay in giving CPR and Defibrillation following sudden cardiac arrest, the survival rate decreases by 7-10%.

The demonstration objectives including:

  • To understand the importance of the Chain of Survival
  • To understand the rescuer’s role and response to cardiac arrest victims
  • To understand the knowledge and skills in CPR
  • To understand the knowledge of using AED

Cervical Cancer and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)

Cervical cancer is the 6th most common cancer affecting women in Singapore.  It has now well established that HPV infection is necessary for cervical cancer to occur.   Fortunately, pap smear screening for cervical cancer is available and there is a long precancerous phase which occurs before cancer formation and these changes can be detected on the pap smear.  Vaccination is also now possible to prevent infection with HPV 16 and 18, which accounts for 70-80% of all cervical cancer.  Vaccination alongside with screening can reduce the incidence of cervical cancer in women.

Making Fertility Your Choice
