    In Loving Memory of Khatijun Nissa Siraj

      In loving memory of Khatijun Nissa Siraj, who passed away on 7 March at the age of 97. Khatijun was a pioneer Muslim women’s rights activist who devoted her life to the community and social work. She became the first woman counsellor at the Syariah Court and co-founded the non-profit organisations Singapore Muslim Women’s Association (PPIS) and Muslim Women’s Welfare Council.     First female fighter squadron commander among the eight inducted today to the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame

    One is a trailblazing magazine editor. Another helped to resolve refugee crises around the world. Another one built a pipeline of well-trained early childhood education professionals for Singapore. Two turned their passion for fashion into thriving businesses. Another two have taken feminist discourse in the arts to new heights.  And the youngest is the first woman to command a fighter squadron in Singapore.     SCWO takes a Walk in Our Foremother’s Footsteps

    SWHF Heritage Walk

    Last month, the staff at SCWO put on our comfortable shoes and took the opportunity to explore our neighbourhood in the Bras Basah-Bugis heritage district through our own heritage walk. Despite the rainy season this time of year, the weather stayed clear that afternoon and allowed us to enjoy the outdoor walk.    SCWO Centre is one of the many buildings in the area associated with some of the pioneer women changemakers in Singapore.
