Susan Chia

Susan Chia is currently a final year fine art student at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Though her styles of works are naïve, pure, or even playful sometimes, she continues to explore through the use of vigorous strokes and colours as her main expressions. Overall, the combination of strokes and colours make the work more lively and vibrant.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I question myself of what beauty in today’s society truly is. I am concerned about how the society really perceives beauty as and how our lifestyle culture could be the main cause of different individuals’ looks being discriminate. Attractiveness is the biggest threat to the obese. As a result, both psychological and physical effects are the main problems which the individual faces. Because of the need to satisfy their selves or beautify even more, they tend to spend more money to make them look more beautiful till their fullest desire. It is also the misconception of being good-looking is a great advantage.
