LIYANA YUSUF

Liyana Binte Mohd Yusof’s passion in Art nurture when she is still young. She took Art in Xingnan Primary School (Singapore) and took part in Arts co-curriculum competition and managed to get 3rd prize. She continued her studies in Hong Kah Secondary School (Singapore) and achieved to get Best in Arts and Design consistently. She also participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and won Bronze.

 

She is now currently studying Diploma in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), majoring in western painting. She took western painting to get more exposure in painting qualities and polish her skills. She is working on in this art industry to get her place in art teaching. By gaining experience in teaching, she tried working as teacher assistant in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Junior Arts (NAFA Junior Arts) since year 1 studying in NAFA. Liyana is also a part-time art teacher in Learning Planet Neptune (LPN). She has deep passion in teaching art, especially working around children and wishes she could nurture them in art with passion.

 

Artist’s statement
My works are usually inspired by the things evolves and occur in my life.  Things around me matter. It gave me the inspiration to paint and to say what I feel about the subject through my works. Being personal or general, I would bring across my message emotional through my works. Subjects like identity and social issues always tigers me to paint as it always gives me personal views and to voice it out through paintings being because it’s personal.

 

My objective is for viewers to make own interpretation of what they feel rather than how I would interpret it. As an individual, I go about facing different phases of life dealing with the same issue. I want to free myself from the feeling of being tied down to a certain level of freedom, which in contrary avoids me from the wrong doings and sin.
