JUNIE FOO
Junie’s works are focused on bringing out the quietness of hope, beyond life’s shadows and its daily intensities. Their themes and shapes are influenced by the refinement of Japanese paintings, landscapes in particular. The inspirations are hence drawn from nature’s intricate creations, be it the abundant crevasses in a tree trunk or the solitary magnificence of the ocean. She delights in the freedom of using a multitude of colours and it is always her constant desire to bring hope to those who see the paintings. Her paintings have been collected in Singapore, Spain, Japan and Hong Kong
As an artist, she does not forget return something to the community. She donated her paintings for sale in aid of the building of The Quiet Places project at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in November 2005. Together with another artist, she helped to raise SGD15,000 from the sale of paintings. In the same year, she also put up her painting for auction for the Seeing is Believing Fund of Standard Chartered Bank which aims to save the sight of 1 million people in the world. Her painting was auctioned for SGD3,500 and bought by a local company. In 2006, she donated another of her paintings for fund raising.
